University of Nairobi, Office of Career Services held a career counselling training session with College student leaders to enable students and graduates recognize and understand themselves and the job market so as to come to a resolve on career, life and educational choices.

 

The Office of Career Services (OCS) is a Government national strategy for developing essential competencies among graduates that will produce the appropriate human capital for industrialization of the region-the skills that will enable society to innovate and foster the type of rapid technological progress that characterize industrial revolution.

 

The mission and vision of OCS is to produce employable graduates through development of Technical, Leadership and Soft Skills of students, linking students to Industry partners for job and internship opportunities, mentorship, counselling services, graduate tracking services, high school recruitments, students exchange, apprenticeship services and alumni networking among others

Director Career service Mr. Johnson Ireri Kinyua while speaking at the training challenged the students to utilize the opportunity they have while studying at the university to develop, gain skills and build their personal development portfolio that will attract the market demands. He stated that OCS has a goal of developing holistic graduates, market ready and globally competitive and its mandated to supporting students to transit from Learning to earning.
